A luxury yacht charter cruise in Galapagos: This is the once in a lifetime trip to discover a unique nature paradise. Around 40 endemic animal species are found on the Galapagos Islands, such as the Galapagos giant tortoises, the mane seals or the Galapagos iguanas. And there are about 250 endemic plants. The secluded location of the archipelago, with 13 larger and more than 100 smaller islands, has preserved the original species better than other parts of the world. Galapagos is a national park, marine reserve and since 1978 part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage.

The Spaniards who accidentally discovered the islands in 1535 called them “Islas Encantadas” – enchanted islands. In the 19th century they were renamed Galapagos after the giant tortoises. In 1832, when Ecuador took possession of the islands, they were baptized “the Archipelago of Ecuador”. In 1835 the evolutionary explorer Charles Darwin visited the island group. Since 1892 they have been officially called “Archipiélago de Colón” – Columbus archipelago.

About 30,000 people live on the five inhabited islands of the archipelago: Santa Cruz, with the city of Puerto Ayora as the center of tourism, San Cristobál, Isabela, Floreana (Santa Maria) and Baltra – on this island, also called Seymour Sur, is the largest airport .
